The problem

A missed call for a small business isn't just a missed call, it's a missed booking, a lost customer, and often someone who called the next number on their search results and booked there instead. For solo operators and small teams, the phone is simultaneously the most important customer acquisition channel and the hardest one to staff.

A human receptionist costs $35,000–$55,000 a year. An answering service is impersonal and expensive. Voicemail converts at single digits. The small business owner ends up either chained to their phone or consistently losing business to whoever picks up first.

What Callora does

Callora is an AI voice agent that handles inbound calls for small businesses. It:

  • Answers and greets callers in the business's voice, with the business's personality.
  • Books appointments directly into the connected calendar, no human handoff required for standard bookings.
  • Screens inquiries: distinguishes new customers from existing ones, captures the reason for the call, qualifies basic fit, and routes accordingly.
  • Follows up: sends confirmation texts and reminder messages automatically after booking.
  • Escalates intelligently: knows when a call needs a human and sends an immediate alert with the call summary and caller details.

Who it's for

Callora was designed specifically for the solo and micro-team service business: barber shops, salons, home service providers, therapists, legal offices, healthcare practices. Businesses that run on appointments. Businesses that can't afford to miss a call but also can't staff a front desk around the clock.

These are disproportionately Black and minority-owned businesses, businesses that historically haven't had access to the enterprise voice AI tools that their larger competitors have used for years. Callora brings that same capability at a price point that makes sense for a $400K/year barbershop, not just a $4M/year med spa.

The technical approach

Callora is built on a voice AI stack with a custom dialogue management layer tuned for appointment-heavy, service-business call flows. The caller never hears a menu tree, the conversation is natural. The calendar integration covers the major booking platforms. The escalation logic uses call-type classification to decide what gets handled fully by AI versus what needs a warm handoff.

The phone is the most important channel for small businesses and the hardest to staff. Callora fixes that.

Where it is now

Callora is live and deployed with active small business clients. The current focus is deepening calendar integrations and improving the quality of the escalation classification, we want the AI to handle more, escalate smarter, and give business owners more of their time back.
